February 02, 2010
VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network

By Host: Karen Titanich

Water covers more of the planet’s surface than land does. Yet, how much do we really know about our oceans? For many of us, the oceans are a mysterious place. On this week's program, Karen Titanich helps listeners discover the wonder of our oceans, and discusses efforts underway to conserve and protect them. Join Karen as she talks with two experts in the field: Dr. Ellen Pikitch, Executive Director of the Institute for Ocean Conservation Science at Stony Brook University, and, Dr. Elliot Norse of the Marine Conservation Biology Institute. Dr. Pikitch speaks in detail about the threats facing sharks and sturgeon, and the Institute's efforts to improve their chances of survival.
